Hitting On The Hotties At The A&P

Ah, the single life of guys!

By the way, if you like the story, fine.  If you think it “needs something” then LET ME KNOW!  I’d like to hear suggestions on how to make it FUNNIER.  It won’t ruin my day.

On aisle two:  Janet Webb, photographic section with prompt

SIngles Night at the A&P.  Bill and I rushed to get there.  Brad came with us.  One look at Brad and you’d see his last name wouldn’t be Pitt.  But, like us, he was desperate for the love of a good woman.

“An inspiration, guys.  See the babe in the bread aisle?”  We did … va-va-voom!  “Observe.”  Brad disappeared around the corner.  Seconds later, the silence erupted with the crash of two shopping carts, Brad’s and hers.

I turned to Bill.  “You think he’s onto something?”

“If not, I’ll buy the ice pack, you buy the smelling salts.”

    Dear Kent,

We had A&P’s where I grew up. I do think Brad, Bill and (you?) are on to something. Sounds like a first-aid kit is in order. Still laughing here.

    Aloha,

    Doug

Well, believe it or not, in my home town (at the time, pop. 10,000) in the greater KC area back in the early ’60’s, we had an A&P near my house. Used to shop there all the time.

      And thank-you, Doug.

  2. Hey Bub,

Don’t lay that handle on me. You couldn’t pay me enough to be a store director. 😉
Singles Night at the A & P? This is followed by Singles dance night at the laundro-matt, right?
Well written and has me laughing out loud. This is one of my favorites of yours. Thank you for not making a shopping cart speak.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  3. Absolutely. That is where all the action is. Picking up girl’s in bars is impossible, but bumping into them at the yogurt isle is ideal!

Hahaha! Thanks, LG. It could work.

  5. Loved your description of Brad. 🙂

  6. I absolutely loved the idea of the crashing carts. For me, this was one of the funniest things I read. The image of the crashing carts. I’m laughing as I type. Brilliant!

lol! laughed at the brad pitt thing. if someone did that to me, i’d run him/her over with my cart. ^^ ^^

I’m not sure Brad’s problem is his face. He thinks he’ll get a girl by inflicting physical injury? Great characterisation all round and very visual (slapstick). Ann

  9. Very entertaining, even for AnElephant who has no idea what A&P is.
(Has now sussed it is a supermarket.)
