Fire And Water

OK, I couldn’t resist.

Since the lot of you have written about violence, I thought I’d re-run this piece of tale from September 3, 2014 that has a DIFFERENT theme.  This story was WAY out of my comfort zone when I wrote it.

Enjoy.

The sound of running water.

Jake stepped into the shower and wrapped his arms around his beautiful bride of three weeks.

More running water.

Laura’s hot, soapy skin caressed him as he turned her around, raised her arms above her head by the wrists, and pressed her against the tiles.  Hot water cascaded between them. His breathing got heavier, passion and ecstasy about to burst.

A trickle and two splashes.

Awww …. NO!

A tiny girl’s voice emanated from the other side of the shower curtain. “Daddy, wipe me. I’m finished.”

Even newly married, the life of a single dad continued.

These fireworks were quickly doused. 😀 Fun story.

  2. neilmacdon says:

    Yes, that is different!

  3. Sandra says:

Oh I remember this one! Very clever – I wondered where the heck you were going. Nicely done sir.

  4. rgayer55 says:

Awww, man! Those fireworks got their fuses doused before they could explode. It could have been worse. They could have been in “the short rows” as my Dad called it, when the little girl came in.

  5. wmqcolby says:

Well … that IS what married people do … 😉

  6. Dear Cuzzin Notnek,

I remember this one well. So much for those fireworks. Hopefully Laura will pitch in as Mommy soon.

    Shalom,

    Cuzzin Shelley

Ha, want an anti-climax, so to speak. No fireworks there. Nice one.

  8. draliman says:

No more fireworks! It is nice to see a non-violent story, which seem to abound this week.

A passionate embrace, then I expected blood to flow. I was so pleased at how you took us back to daily living. Just fabulous. Mike

  10. wmqcolby says:

Mike, that has to be the best comment i have heard on this so far. Thanks!

  11. Lynn Love says:

Well, that’s pretty par for the course, isn’t it? Well done for giving us something different, and so beautifully told too

    • wmqcolby says:

Thanks, Lynn. Like i said above, it was out of my comfort zone. I have written stories I really didn’t care to write, but gave it the old college try. Then there are things I’d be embarrassed to write — that was one of them. I think the next one I’d write (outside the comfort zone) would be a violent one, but the FF bloggers would probably yawn, knowing how many of these get written each week. 😀

      • Lynn Love says:

Haha! Yes, funny how comfortable we all are with violence and death as opposed to erotic or sensual subjects. A dim reflection on us all and our immunity to horror

    • wmqcolby says:

Or, as Woody Allen put it about the difference between sex and death is that, after one happens, you don’t feel nauseous.

  12. Amy Reese says:

Yep, the old wipe my bottom request will put those fireworks right out. I also went with a similar theme, Kent. It started steamy and then went somewhere else. I’m glad you went with steamy. You did a great job with it and it was quite convincing. Five out of five soapy kisses.

  13. wmqcolby says:

Thanks, Amy. I was sure that when people saw fireworks, they’d get the idea for their stories. Stuff like that is hard to write because you have to find the right balance. It actually was inspired by a couple of anecdotes, I just adjusted a few things. No, they didn’t happen to me. My life is quite the opposite.

  14. Alice Audrey says:

LOL. I love it. This is closer to my comfort zone than what I wrote. 🙂

  15. wmqcolby says:

Well, hooray for the comfort zone! hahaha! Glad you liked it, A.A.!

  16. I think writing out of comfort zone is a good thing… this was actually very funny… and a story that I have heard from many parents…. otherwise fireworks of this kind work better when wet.

  17. wmqcolby says:

Hahaha! Yeah, now that you mention it …

  18. Dayum…that was hot…well almost 😉

  19. Margaret says:

Single dad and new husband – those two roles are tricky to coordinate. Your story shows why. Well told.

  20. Hilarious, Kent. I could just hear that little voice. I raised a little girl. We had a 6th birthday party for our daughter at a roller rink, and I had to chip in and wipe a couple of little female bottoms in the ladies’ room of kids on skates who couldn’t manage on their own. That’s a parent’s job. 😀 — Suzanne

  21. wmqcolby says:

Hahaha! That will do it. Of course, that was under MUCH different circumstances, but, as we say in the army, “The pay’s the same.” Right? 😀

    Thanks, Suzanne!

  22. Poor Jake! That was a funny story, Kent! I like the implied fireworks quickly doused by metaphorical cold water!

(And I’m sorry to get to your story so late! )

  23. wmqcolby says:

No problem. I did the same thing myself to a lot of folks. Life gets away from us sometimes. Anyway, I’m glad you liked it and hopefully poor Jake will try to adjust. I thought of him as a widower which, I think, makes him more sympathetic, although, I only had 100 words to do it.

    Phew!
    Steamy stuff, carefully written, fortunately!
